Coffee - Carter lane coffee house (20 seconds away at top of Friar street), Alchemy Cafe (60 seconds away at end of Carter lane) Restaurants - Krua (20 seconds away family owned Thai on Carter lane), Bengal Tiger (20 seconds away Family owned Indian on Carter lane), Ludgate hill has some good high street restaurants (1 min walk away GBK, Pizza Express, Cafe Rouge, Wagamama), One New Change has slightly nicer places (Bread Street Kitchen - Gordon Ramsay, Ivy Asia are two good ones) Shopping - closest is One New Change (about 4 minutes away), can walk into Covent Garden in 15 minutes as well which is close to the rest of town (Oxford and Regents Street, Soho, Leicester Square etc.)

Sightseeing - St Pauls is 60 seconds away and Tate Modern is just a short walk across Millennium bridge, the Southbank is very close (London Eye, BFI, National Theatre), East is Tower of London / Tower Bridge, shard, borough market and lots more! West is Covent Garden, Soho, Trafalgar Square etc.

Pubs - Cockpit - one of the oldest pubs in London is at the bottom of Friar Street, Rising Sun is on Carter lane and family owned. Does a good Sunday roast I'm told but haven't tried it. The owner is lovely and has a dog named Ruby.
