9 At-Home Date Night Ideas for you this Valentine’s Day

This Valentine’s Day many of you will be looking to plan special date nights with your loved ones, whether that’s a partner, family member, or a best friend! So we have compiled a list of some of our favourite at-home date night ideas to help you plan your day, because after all, home is where the heart is!

1. Have a cocktail night

Instead of packing into a loud and crowded bar this Valentine’s Day, why not learn how to make your favourite cocktails at home. Not only will this save you money, it’s also a fun way to learn a new skill and become closer to your partner.

2. Have a game night

Organising a game night is a great way to relax and have fun with your partner. Whether that’s battling against each other on Mario Kart, showing off your karaoke skills, or taking part in some couples trivia, a little bit of competition can be a great way to bond and learn more about one another. Set yourself up with some snacks and a bottle of rosé and enjoy!

3. Turn your home into a movie theatre

Investing in a projector can transform your home into a movie theatre within just a few seconds! All you need is a blank wall to enjoy your favourite movie and a cinema experience just like in the movies! Cosy up under a blanket, turn the lights out, and make some popcorn for an unforgettable night in.

4. Set up a DIY spa night

A home spa date can be very relaxing and romantic - without the high price tag. First, throw on a comfy spa-style robe and slippers. Then make your own face masks and draw a bath for an at-home spa night worthy of the real deal.

5. Watch a live concert or stand-up comedy show

Listening to music can be a great way to relax at the end of the day. Why not immerse yourself in a full live performance from that band you’ve always dreamed of seeing, or perhaps even relive one of your favourite concerts on Youtube.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for some laughs, catch up on a live stand-up comedy gig from one of your favourite comedians.

6. Have a cook-off

Instead of your standard Valentine’s meal out this year, say goodbye to securing a reservation, shouting over restaurant chatter, and the long waits, by cooking your own meal at home.

Set the mood by lighting candles and listening to music. You’ll have all the advantages of going out, but in the comfort of your own home. Or why not take this a step further and challenge your significant other to a cook-off. Tapas is a great option for a competition - just make a number of small dishes each and compare at the end of the night.

7. Have your own DIY wine and paint night

You don’t have to go out and spend money to have a wine and paint night. It’s very simple to recreate your own at home. Just grab some cheap canvasses, paintbrushes, and a bottle of wine and you’ll have your very own wine and paint night in no time. Whether you’re artistic or not, these nights are all about relaxing and having fun, so don’t worry about who paints the best picture!

8. Turn your living room into a picnic set

Having a picnic is one of those classic, romantic date ideas that everybody loves. However, during the winter months it’s usually too cold to enjoy. So why not turn your living room into that perfect picnic setting that you’ve been dreaming of.

Lay out your checkered blanket, order some takeaway, and change into some comfy clothes - ideally in front of a nice cosy fire!

9. Get crafty

Choose a craft or DIY project to tackle together during your at-home date night this Valentine's Day. Head out to the arts and crafts shop and pick out whichever kit interests you. This could be pottery, candle making, or a jewellery making kit.

Whatever it is, spend a couple of hours crafting and you’ll have a sentimental creation to remember your time!
